Henry's First Day Off Sunday, May 31, 2009

Today is Henry's first and only day off from his training at Pilipinas Teleserv. You read it right, it's his first and only day off from work. Their company requires them to work 6 days in a week. I'm glad about the feedback he's giving regarding his training. He's obviously enjoying and having a lot of fun learning about TM.

I just hate seeing him so exhausted all the time. And since he takes his motorcycle with him on a daily basis, I worry for his safety on the road. I know he's a good driver and I trust him on his wheels, it's the people on the road I don't trust.

Only 10 days left of his training and he's moving on to the next phase. I can't wait when he takes in calls so he experiences the life of a call center agent.

The life of a nurse is no joke. It is serious hard work and the hard work lasts for hours and hours. Worse, these hours can be any hours of the day - including the wee hours. Scrubs are the usual outfit that people associate nurses with. White scrubs are usually the most common, since they represent cleanliness.

A nurse's life is very hard and rewarding at the same time. You get to help and take care of people and nurse them back to health. A nurse's career is also continuously evolving - at first you start to be a student nurse, then a new nurse, and eventually a seasoned nurse and help new nurses and teach them the lessons that can only be learned through experience.

If you happen to have a friend or a relative who is a nurse, nominate them for a Scrubby. You can make a friend or a family member their own award based on the times they make you laugh, the best smile, and so on. It's a great way to brighten someone's day. Or, you can participate in a nursing poll like if you are a fan of ER, House, etc, you can choose which is your favorite fictional portrayal of a nurse, what best to eat to de-stress, what to wear, and other questions nurses often find themselves asking. A trip to the tip jar is also great, since here seasoned nurses share their tips to newbies.

June is Here! Sunday, May 31, 2009

Tomorrow is the first day of a new month. June usually marks the start of classes here, and my eldest daughter Keisha is starting her Kinder 2 school on the 3rd. Kinda weird that her school will start on a Wednesday.

With the H1N1 scare, students who have recently gone abroad will not be allowed to go to her school for the first 10 days. Those with fever need to wait as well, until they get better. Some parents think this is an overreaction, but for me, precaution is always better than cure.

Of course, June also marks the rainy season and as expected, today is a pretty rainy day. I wonder how I can finish laundry tomorrow. Tomorrow is also going to be a pretty busy day for me. I have to go to the post office to mail my mom in law's documents and pay the light bill. When I think of all the things I need to do in the following days, I can't help but sigh. But I'm glad that I get to spend the day with my kids.

Cancer is a disease that almost everybody has known or encountered, either personally or through a friend or relative. There are different types of cancer that affects different parts of our body like the liver, the lungs, the colon, the breasts, and so on. So you might wonder, what is Mesothelioma? It's actually a type of cancer, a very dangerous type at that, which is caused by asbestos exposure.
